In 1968, Peggy Fleming obtained worldwide recognition as she incontestably took the Olympic Gold medal for her free-skating program in Grenoble. As ABC televised the Winter Games live and in color for the first time ever, families around the world were able to witness the California-native bring home the one and only gold medal for the United States that year. Peggy’s career and fame quickly continued to rise with her television appearances for sitcoms, specials, and commercial endorsements, as she became a national icon. In 1998, 30 years after winning the gold, this symbol of grace, beauty and strength faced another challenge as she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now as a survivor, Peggy is a true advocate for promoting awareness and providing strength to her followers.
Join the Eastern Washington Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as the Olympic Gold Medalist makes her way to the Northern Quest Resort and Casino to meet her fans, share her successful battle against breast cancer and emphasizes the importance of regular screenings for early detection.
